The West African museum Programme WAMP is a non governmental organisation established in 1982 in Abidjan whose mission is to contribute to building the institutional capacities and provide services to museums and related institutions in West Africa beyond linguistic and geographical barriers.
WAMP is one of the first cultural organizations based in Africa working specifically in the development of private community-based and public museums in West Africa. WAMP collaborates with more than 200 museums in West Africa as an active partner in major African and global cultural initiatives. Over the years WAMP has acquired a worldwide reputation as a knowledge institution, a leader in museum support systems in the region, and a reliable collaborator.
WAMP’s area of coverage includes the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo.
